@user_4481ffurdoowbor 2015-09-01T18:48:17Z
This phone is a hunk of junk. It tries so hard to be iPhone and Samsung. I would rather have a low end Lumia.
@user_9369taeitahwmai 2015-08-15T20:06:13Z
Does anyone have a solution? I only have one problem with the phone and it's a major one. I have the HTC One M8 for Windows and the touchscreen malfunctions a lot while scrolling or typing. It's been happening a lot the past few days.
The touchscreen always flickers around the bottom center of the phone. (In a Windows Phone keyboard it's around where the v and g keys are.) While scrolling during web browsing it always holds in place like if I'm pinching the screen to zoom in and spams like if I'm tapping the screen like a maniac. While typing messages or searching on Google or YouTube for example, the v or g spams a lot and its uncontrollable and even it swipes by itself horizontally like crazy. Is this a hardware issue? It always happens after charging the phone or when I'm using it a lot (I watch YouTube and message friends that's it, and while trying to message anyone this happens a lot and it's uncomfortable to do anything on the phone.
Before anyone says that it's because it's Windows Phone, it can be because it is, but I looked up issues with the Android version and some of them had issues with the phone not registering any scrolling or swipes on the first touch or even tapping on any apps on the first touch on the home screen on the bottom part. There is no calibration system on the Windows Phone when I tried to find it on Settings.
@user_5306nellucsemaj 2015-08-11T02:44:54Z
If I am not mistaking, you will be able to incorporate android and ios apps in to the windows phone! If that is the case, then it is a win, win!!
@user_eelubmat 2015-07-20T06:40:31Z
did this phone get the "hey cortana" feature? thats when you voice activate cortana like you would google by saying "ok google"
@user_yadoTcirteMoG 2015-05-14T16:33:11Z
Got this phone and LOVE it! Prior to this version, I had the Android version and didn't like it. I think that I was tainted because I had a Nokia Lumia Windows phone before. I am so glad to go back to a Windows phone.

I'd like to get this phone, but it doesn't have Qi charging. that's built in to the Lumia, so I think I'll stick with that.

HELLO KITTY IS A GIRL!?!?!?
@user_ztenalporeZ 2015-01-06T02:46:02Z
Just got this phone. Was tired of waiting for a proper 920 replacement. Have to say, I thought I would miss some things like hardware keys and cam key. But Its not that big of a deal to me I guess. I do miss the QI charging though. Needed to buy a longer cable for the phone at my bed as an alarm so I don't drop it cause the cord is to short. Sound really is nice though. The picture is more vibrant. and the microsd is really nice. I do wish the camera was slightly better though. But all in all Im very happy with this phone and the latest software update.
@user_rorepmEhtraDehT 2014-12-31T22:26:39Z
As far as user interface, ios and android is dated. Windows 8.1 is kicking ass in that department. However, windows phone lacks apps. This is a huge deal breaker!! and to make matters worst, the apps that are available in the windows 8 phone store are not available in the PC/tablet verson of windows 8 store and vice versa. You'd think you could at least get cortana on a tablet!! Ha! Cortana sucks anyway. Even with a lack of apps I could never go back to ios or droid.
@user_nogaWyvarG 2014-12-15T01:57:01Z

Very nice and thorough review, Lisa!

Microsoft should never have reneged on the mandated hardware keys, it was one their only advantages over Android.
@user_nivliW 2014-10-13T17:36:48Z
Wow. I had to pause the video and go look up Hello Kitty not being a cat.
@user_3242pmacmij 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
I really wish HTC hadn't put a Windows version out on the One. It detracts from the head to head with Apple iOS.

I can't remember which, iOS or Android but one of the radio apps has the option for Ford Sync on the menu, but the Windows version does not. Since Microsoft made Sync on Ford's I can not see why the version on Windows Phone does not also have the SYNC option in the settings.
@user_8396seldduc 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
Last I checked they raised the price of this to 149, then by next month it will probably go back down again. Verizon is always up and down on prices from month to month. The Icon was only free if you were a new Verizon customer, dang it.
@user_8396seldduc 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
Other than camera, that newer 801 and more up to date firmware right off the gate along with Micro SD slot and that sexy design is great.
@user_8396seldduc 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
Lisa, I am glad you keep up to date on hardware reviews compared to some other "popular" tubers out there. Lately they have been slacking off and have very few new videos in the last 3 months. Still torn between the M8 and Icon, will have to take a trip to the empty Verizon store a few miles away.

I actually like cellphones with their carrier logo
It's really annoying how everyone just complains and winges about windows phone 8.1. If you don't like the os don't get a phone running it. Some people actually like it and the app store isn't even that bad anymore...
@user_54enodlab 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z

@user_1932dortoh 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
Nice one Lisa! I think this is a true apples to apples comparison - WP vs Android on the same device. More choice is better for consumers and there are a lot of WP fans who really want this phone. I hope it has an Int'l release though.
@user_7237ailgimitnevleumas 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
Great review as always. I was a proud owner of a HTC One (M7) before switching to Windows Phone and picking up a Lumia 1520. I really liked my M7 and it's nice to see that HTC has made a Windows device and has kept the hardware intact and offered the same device in the M8.
As far as the app gap, Windows phone users have to accept it as a current fact as life. I'll admit that it can sometimes be a bit frustrating but I'm still sticking with the platform. Its a chicken/egg deal. There aren't devs willing to create apps for WP because the user base is small but if more people switched to WP, I believe that could shift.
If I were in the market for a new device, I'd definitely get one. And as a side note, where did you get that t-shirt? I would like to get one for sure.
@user_esorcuSi 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
I would never buy a windows phone. if the windows 8.1 apps(pc) are anything like the apps on windows phone, I wouldn't even take the phone for free.
@user_0369tcaresseT 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
lisa , could you review xiaomi mi 4.
@user_reyalplatrop 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
it isn't the app store that's the problem. I dont like how it's a long list for the apps, no real way to organize the apps. And, there's no way to set it so the live tile to install automatically after u get the app. also, i'd like real wallpapers in the background, and i'd like more than just 1 home screen. they should also fix multitasking where u can have more than just 6 apps there.

If you want windows phone , so nokia is Your Path !
@user_corald 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
Don't know anyone who would buy this version over the Android version. Unless the Windows version is a lot cheaper.

@user_egavarG 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
I'm honestly just surprised that Verizon didn't cram another logo on the front this time.
@user_gniKDkcirtaP 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
I hate capacitive on screen buttons. If there's ever a hang-up or freeze then you're stuck. And if you watch Netflix, like on an Android tablet, there's these faint white dots at the bottom where the on screen buttons are supposed to be...REALLY annoying.

@user_xp5ts-ioB 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
Nice review, Lisa. I'm really interested in the Windows Phone platform and like the direction it's going, but, as you said, the app problem is my only hesitation. I checked out Windows Phone's version of Twitter and Facebook and I was shocked at how antiquated and different it was from the Android and IOS versions. Definitely a deal breaker. I might buy one of the lumia lower end Lumia models as a backup phone to give it a try, while WP improves its app situation. But, my heart is really with their high end phones like this one.
Also, I like your Hello Kitty reference in the beginning. Love your sense of humor. LOL keep up the good work. Nice car too :)
@user_itrapej 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
