They did replace the handset, after about a month of not being able to receive calls due to a porting issue. It still short circuited the computer on a second device, also I was trying this with 3 different batteries and it was happening every time. I charge my S3 and iPhone 4s off the same Computer...no issues. Really did not have a good experience with it and I've sworn of HTC because of it.

Compared to the S3 you will be dissapointed, I agree with you there. But if the phone is short circuiting your laptop then there is something seriously wrong with the phone. I would take it back and have it repaired. It shouldnt be that bad.

Had this phone for 6 Months. Worst phone I've ever owned. Abismal battery life, got really hot in my hand, had to charge it during the day, couldn't charge off my computer because it would make the laptop short circuit. Data speeds were good but that alone wasn't enough to save it as a workable phone. Also the camera was average at best, I don't know why people say it's so good. Having owned Galaxy S3, iPhone 4s and iPhone 4 this was honestly the worst.

Oh yeah, 12 hours should be no problem from this phone. I'm pretty extreme on the phone with multiple email accounts and all social platforms set to push data so you would likely get better battery like than I.

    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
Fair enough, thanks for the response. Oh and if I were to use it for let's say I use a full charged Velocity for 12 hours a day or so?
  • @user_inamorttauQffoeG
    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
It isnt too bad on battery, you should manage a day with moderate usage. There isnt a real way of telling you how long each percentage would last, that would depend on how you use it.
  • @user_dnammoCdetimilnU
    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
Very curious er.. how is it battery wise? Full battery can last how long? 10% battery can last how long? I'm all into the review and purchasing the phone but all I need to know is the battery consistency on this product.

Are you using this phone with Telstra? On Telstra it can connect to a dual-HSDPA+ network for data speeds which the iPhone cannot do. If you do a speed test on both phones I would be surprised if the Velocity wasnt the quickest. When I tested the phone I found it warmed up BUT the only difference I see here is that you have ICS which I didnt. Maybe some software updates have fixed that issue. Either way, thanks for stopping by, glad you enjoy the phone!

yes, not as ugly as the Incredible S but still ugly. I mean put it next to the HTC One X and you will see how ugly the Velocity is. The One X is just sexy.

hey im a fourteen year old and i have got the phone!! to me it is an amazing phone the speakers are poor but not terrible i love the phone it is smooth, fast and very handy even if u cant use the 4g the 3g is amazingly fast compared to my iphone 3g that i previously owned so yeah its ur choice if u wanna buy it or not but personally i love the phone :)
  • @user_881orietnomnairb
    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
hey man!! u could also look at the American version of this phone it is called the htc Vivid although it is only 1.2 Ghz while the htc velocity is 1.5 Ghz bbut yeah the rest is the same ;)
  • @user_777namrogm
    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
its almost 3 times the speed of a iphone 4s, interent in potentialy 5 times faster, better sounds from the velocity due to its equalizer, the camera on velocity is 8mp the iphone is 5mp, so unless u like paying itunes for fun, (android has many FREE music dl'n apps) then the answer is obvious
  • @user_inamorttauQffoeG

Hello to Mexico! You should take a look online, this phone is primarily for Australia. You might be able to get one from expansys or mobicity? Alternatively check out the HTC One X which is quite a bit better than this phone.
  • @user_inamorttauQffoeG
    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
For a 13 year old you might want to see it in the flesh first as it is quite a bit larger than the iPhone 4S so your hands might look very small holding it, I'm assuming. Personally I would choose this phone over the 4S and yes it is a tougher phone. BUT how about looking at the new HTC One X? That is better than both of them! I have done a review on it, so check that out :)

I think you'll be fine, you'll make it through the day. I run the phones with two email accounts, facebook and twitter set to push, I know that if i turn those down a bit then the phone will last longer but for me it wouldnt be fair to the other phones i tested. With average use you'll be fine.

@Bettertech2012 the Galaxy Note is a sweet phone, no doubt. I have seen the Note for $569AUD on Kogan though so it is getting cheaper. The key difference though is the lack of 4G on the Note (in Australia). This may change however as Telstra is rumoured to be bringing the Note to Aus in a 4G version. Drool.

@iDreZakhari The same OS, camera and "skin" can be found on most recent HTC phones such as the Sensation XE or XL. Depending on your service provider it might be cheaper. The phone runs Android however HTC put a skin over it called HTC Sense and this changes the look and feel of Android slightly. You might also want to consider the Samsung Galaxy Nexus or Galaxy S2.

HEY! Urgent i really like this phone more for the software and camera can i find a phone with the same software and camera (8mp) and would it be cheaper? BTW what software is it running??? Thanks ;)

@Jetfoil929100 Well your speed at Surfing the net will be based on the carrier you are with, Telstra is the fastest. Both will take great photos and the XE has a louder loudspeaker. The XE is only available on Vodafone so it loses in the speed for your internet. That kinda leaves you with a tie. BUT the XE comes with Beats by Dre headphones so I'd pick that. Those headphones are amazing.

    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
@gquattromani I'm using Wildfire now and want to buy a new HTC smartphone. My considerations include...... 1.Higher speed when surf the internet and play games 2.Good photo quality 3.Good quality when playing music So, would you suggest XE or Velocity?
  • @user_inamorttauQffoeG
    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
@Jetfoil929100 If the XE had 4G then it would KILL the Velocity, It depends what is important to you. The XE is a better phone but cant go 4G like the Velocity can :(
  • @user_001929liofteJ
    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
Overall, do you think it is a good phone except it is too hot and the music volume is too weak? In contrast with Sensation XE, which one is better?

@TheMutloh tough call, the 4G speeds on this are just amazing, whether the iPhone5 has 4G, no one knows. Have you looked at the Velocity in a store?

@JustGuessWork big time. With Mobile World Congress starting next week we are going to see some crazy tech come out. I cant wait. What I can promise you though from the video is that 4G is exciting, and FAST.

@michael9678727 Lucky for you that you live in a 4G area! There is so much that I could show on every phone but the review would be an hour long with no one watching. I try and give enough information to give you an idea if it is any good or not. And yes, I call them devices now, they're too advanced to be in the same category as a Nokia 5110!

@gquattromani no worries, I live in a 4G area and was blown away at the speeds this thing was getting, it makes my ADSL2 look like dial up! should do another review on some of its other features like the "trace" I found this feature amazing and could believe how accurate it was while typing text. LOL you can't call it a phone anymore it now a "device"!

@michael9678727 thanks for the feedback Michael, I think you made a good choice! It is amazing how a device which was once known just for calls is now so much more than that. I hope you enjoy your new device!

Good review. I picked one up 2 weeks ago and I'm really enjoying my first "smartphone" I was going to get the samsung Gs2 but everyone got it and it about 6 months old now, whereas this phone is quite new. Some of the things I found; very smooth with regards to swiping, pinch to zoom etc, no lag sound is ok with me I guess I haven't checked other phones. I used to have a nokia and sound to me was similar. and it makes phone calls! overall a pretty good phone.

@CWestz If they are setup the same I would suggest that their battery performance will be very similar. Settings like brightness, push settings and background services can make a huge difference to battery life.
