i have the same phone and i've had to get it replaced 3 times and at the moment i'm waiting for my fourth replacement. Some charger ports DO NOT work and some are unable to send or receive media or start/take part in a group chat.

It is free. If I were to get an iPhone 5 in Canada with contract it still costs me 200$. Almost all phones you have to pay for and pay for the contract but this is just contract.

We have a website that's been around for over 10 years where you can read lots of reviews and post questions in our forum or in Disqus on the review pages themselves. MobileTechReview is the name of the site.
  • @user_weiverhcetelibom
    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
Depends on the calling plan and data plan you select. You do not make additional monthly payments to pay off the phone however.
  • @user_weiverhcetelibom
    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
AU phone commitments work quite differently from US cell contracts. T-Mobile US recently changed to something like what you have in AU, but the rest still sell you a phone on contract with no additional monthly payments to pay off the phone. But we do have an early termination fee if you end your contract early.

    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
You know she repeatedly says "free on contract", stop whining.
  • @user_sebabynorB
    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
the phones not free, the contract locks you into periodic payments. which is obvious, and that's why it's annoying to hear it. so having a low expectation for a phone because it's 'free" when it's not, is not only illogical but pointless. Not sure about other countries but in Australia most phones have a very small upfront cost if one at all... so yeah... i'm going to bed.

Understood, and yes life without contracts would be a wonderful thing. T-Mobile US has started doing that, and we can only dream other big US carriers will do the same (but it doesn't seem likely).

I understand that and I dont want you to think in any way that I was being critical of you which I wasnt. In fact you are my favourite Tech reviewer. I was just making the general point that in Europe well at least Western Europe that Pay as you Go is just as prevalent as a contract phone. I get the impression that Pay as You Go is not that big in the States from the reviews I see here on Youtube.

Hi lisa. I just want to say thank you so much on all of your videos because they really help me decide which of the latest tech products I like most. So far youve influenced my choice in a tablet and a computer. And I have wanted to get so many of the phones youve reviewed, but I think my parents feel like they have already bought me too much at my age. I dont think ill get both a guitar and a phone for my bday, so i was hoping that u could send me an android phone. Thank you for reading, bayf

Since this is a US carrier phone exclusive to Verizon in the US, running on CDMA rather than GSM used in the EU, you're looking at pretty much a contract world for this particular phone and Verizon customers.
  • @user_rehcraesehtevetS
    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
Lisa don't forget that in Europe contracts are not the only way to go. In fact I would never buy a phone on contract. Pay as you go is very popular. I would never buy a phone with a contract. Never have done. I would prefer to buy a handset straight out and then top up as required.

Some people would rather the subsidy than buying the phone outright for $300. More power to them.
