This phone does seem like it only runs slow when you turn it on in other reviews they show, when they flip through the screens there isn't any lag.
  • @user_11_eigoo
    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
It doesn't seem that slow of a phone if you look at this phone compared to the old iphones like 3gs and stuff this phone is pretty fast.

If you think this is smooth try running an Xperia U or a cheaper HTC, they're acceptable. This phone is SLOW. Not in comparison to more expensive phones, just SLOW in it's own right, phones for the same price or cheaper are better, more responsive and look nicer. Like I've said before, if you have the phone and you're happy with it, happy days. If not, I couldn't care less about your misinformed comment and would appreciate if you didn't visit the channel. Cheers, Tristan x

you think this is slow? looks quite zippy actually. unusual you say lag, yet the interface responds immediately? you dont explain why the most used apps home screen is bad, you just say its dreadful ( "it runs terribly"), then moan its too slow (when evidently its not). you try to knock off the launcher, then realise it isnt so bad , but still say its not smooth (when it is!).. oddly as this is a phone, there is no mention of reception quality, for which Ive heard is meant to be good. Amateur.

Yep! If Sony and HTC can make dual core phones for only a little more it makes me wonder why Motorola couldn't put in a 1GHz Dual core or even a 1GHz single! :L

What sort of phones are better at the same price. I was contemplating getting this phone at my next upgrade and I still am but I'm just wondering if there are better ones for the same price what they are?
  • @user_tsriFtegdaG

I get sent phones to make videos on what I (emphasis on "I") think about them. I convey MY thoughts about the product in my reviews. When I say you have to get your contacts through FB or Google, this is instead of Motoblur, not instead of adding them manually...In MY experience it was laggy and slow, it's even noticeable in the video. If you're happy with the phone, then good for you. I wasn't happy with it so I'm happy I didn't have to pay for it when there's better phones at the same price.

It's improved when you use LauncherPro, but it's not that smooth. It will be faster than your Wildfire. :)

Hi, I consider buying this phone. If I install LauncherPro will I be able to surf between homescreens without lag? Also, can I expect a performance improvement from my last phone? I previously had the Wildfire (not S). Thank you very much indeed

When you are in your phonebook/contacts, there is a plus sign in the corner to add contacts. Also, when you start typing a number to call you can store it by tapping the button with a "face" and a plus sign. In quickoffice you select quickword, then create new document. In quickoffice there is a button to the bottom left where you can save or save as. Also when you leave the document by clicking back-button, you are prompted to save.

The CPU isn't the slow one, the UI is. Change to LauncherPro in example. This 800 MHz MSM7227A is faster then earlier 800MHz cpu's such as the MSM7227T from the year before. Even based on different ARM generation. The cpu is recommended by qualcomm to run between 600-1000MHz and can safely be clocked up to 1GHz, which is the same speed as the soon to be released Sony Xperia J ST26i with same screen size and screen res. willl run. BTW, it takes good photos if you know to to do so :)

Settings > Wireless and Networks > Mobile Network > Select Network > 2G Only :) That will stop 3G, but a small amount of Data may be used with 2G so: Add the power control widget to your homescreen and turn off mobile data, its the icon with an up and down arrow :)

Nope, on WIFI it is free and if you're on 3G (mobile internet) it's most likely free until you reach your internet limit :)

I see what you mean, I used my BenQ monitor to do this video which usually makes things a little more 'Vibrant' than they are, check out the next video and I'll use my Dell monitor as a base for colours :)

Motorola are notorious for poor and sluggish UIs but an upgrade to ICS could certainly help if it's done well, hard to say for sure :)
  • @user_uoYdnAmodnaR
    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
It's such a shame, I was certain this phone was perfect for me, but if there is one thing I can't stand it is laggy and slow to respond GUI. I think motorola are still considering an ICS update (That was the last I heard), if this happened, would it help the responsiveness of the phone?
  • @user_tsriFtegdaG

    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
I have the galaxy w and may get the htc one s. Lovely vid mate. Try get it to 1000. Watch my vids on my channel so my views can pump up also do the obvious. Thanks guys
  • @user_tsriFtegdaG
    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
If they updated it to ICS the phone would likely be a lot smoother and more usable. It runs nicer with a launcher but it still stutters and the rest of the phone still runs dreadfully. If it's good for you then that's good, I just don't like it at all :)
  • @user_tsriFtegdaG
    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
The Xperia U has scratch resistant glass but not gorilla glass. However the display on the device is brilliant. The storage being limited at 4GB is what makes it short of being the best budget handset. If you want a phone at a similar price with expandable storage that still kicks the ass of an Ace or Motoluxe I think the Xperia Ray could be a good choice as it can be found at around £160 :)
  • @user_syaSnomiSoS
    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
Xperia u seems to have bog standard glass, rather than gorilla glass
  • @user_syaSnomiSoS
    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
i may have to go with the ace, lack of memory expansion really lets the Xperia U down
  • @user_tsriFtegdaG
    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
I'd say the Ace is a better choice, only thing it's worse on is the screen. However the Sony Xperia U is cheaper than the Motoluxe and about the same as the Galaxy Ace but is SO MUCH BETTER than both of them.
  • @user_syaSnomiSoS
    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
so should i go for the ace rather than this?
  • @user_tsriFtegdaG
    1970-01-01T00:00:00Z
Yes, and so do phones half the price. It isn't a little laggy, it is very stuttery. This has a negative effect on the rest of the phone, eg. web browsing is slow. Not to mention there are rivals like the Galaxy Ace which provide better value, the Ace is still laggy, but not to the extent of the Motoluxe. Call quality is pathetic considering this device is meant to be a phone, I found myself repeating what I said as the other person couldn't hear me, and vice versa.
