  11:36 I beg to differ. Nokia OTA updates at the time were known to cause glitches, compared to Nokia PC Suite/JAF/Phoenix full updates. So if you were tech savvy at the time and wanted to update, you wouldn't want to update software over OTA anyway... thus lack of Wi-Fi in 5230 wasn't that big of a deal.

  This was the phone that people purchased in droves over the original iphone. I don't know if it was all the confusion on the market, the iPhone was too expensive to gamble on, or maybe consumers had already purchased a new phone recently such as a Blackberry and were content with what they had. I don't think Smartphones had an impact on the industry until Android made it's appearance in 2011. I thought Android was much cooler in 2011 with more apps and certainly a lot cheaper. I will never forget showing it off to family and friends and their face like WOW I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE. I don't think that will ever experience that again in my lifetime.

  That phone was unsanely popular. If they could have reproduced its success with its successor, nokia would have certainly been save. They had a big edge in 2009-2010 on entry level touchscreen phones (given most of the competition was dumbphones like the Samsung stars)
  
  You'd have to be really uncharitable to call the 5230 a screwup, and i doubt anyone switched from that to an iphone. (They weren't in the same range at all). They probably switched to low end androids around 2012-14

  I had mine in early 2010 and still use it daily as I only use it for text and calls. On the third battery, will be sad when 3g ceases and I will not be able to use it, modern phones break so easily, so it is finding something small and durable to replace it that will be the problem.

  I had this phone it was unbreakable lol and then I gave it to my friend who did not have a phone and he broke it even more it was all falling apart but was still working perfectly fine :D

  1. The share button is a feature called Ovi Share, which is no longer supported since 2011.
  2. Default applications such as Ovi Store, Ovi Maps, Email, Software Update app, and Ovi Music is no longer supported as their server has been shut down since 2015.

  I had a Nokia 5228 phone as a kid.
  It had a Angry Birds demo on it with Flow.
  I used to make slideshows with it.
  But i broke the off button.
  It never got on ever since i broke the button.
  Then it got lost.
  This phone gave me so much memories and i look back into buying it again.

  This phone is strong
  Mine fell down a couple of stairs and drown in water
  And it works a bit glichly but yea it works perfectly
  And with a 16 gb mem card in this phone and with more apps than google play and evry single one of the weight some kilobytes and around 6 mb or 12 mb this phone is a god of destruction when we talk about games over 12 mine has idk i still download through Bluetooth it has 30 mb left from the 70 and yea i am god damn impressed i still use it

  My mom used to have one of these and used it for the ovi navigation service.
  Back in those days having offline gps with ability to download maps to your SD card for free was something entirely new.
  Also it did come with the lanyard "guitar pick" thing out of the box.
