  Mi is not so stupid as you think... They know their business well..! the display is larger than redmi 4 and there are different audiences that like a larger screen...so Mi is just giving more options to users...to prioritise their needs. Nothing wrong!! This way they can sell a lot more phones.....BTW redmi 5a n Y1 Lite have the same specs. Your review should be on how the phone is and not why the phone is!!!

  Redmi y1 lite is better than 5a because 5a doesn't has gyroscope sensor itself and though it has 5.0 inch display y1 lite's camera is still more better than 5a and redmi 4
